A.N. Boyden makes $11k/month serializing romance novels
Using Wattpad, Novelstar, NovelCat, Patreon, Inkitt, Kindle Vella, and Kindle Unlimited.
I’ve been playing around with all the serial fiction apps, trying to research which ones might be the best fit for my next novel, when a friend from Wattpad drew my attention to one particularly versatile author in this space.
A.N. Boyden writes romance novels and she has experimented heavily with various platforms, publishing her books on Patreon and Kindle Vella first, followed by Wattpad, Inkitt, Novelstar, and NovelCat. When they are complete, she puts them up on Kindle Unlimited.
Since 2019, she has published 30 works on Wattpad—including sample chapters of published works, short story contest entries, as well as full-length novels—and has graduated five books to Kindle Unlimited. She took her strategy paid in mid-2021 and she’s already making $11,000/month. She anticipates being able to quit her day job this year!
I interviewed Boyden about her serial fiction strategy, exactly how her process works, a breakdown of where her income is coming from each month, and what she does to attract readers (both free and paid). Interviews are available for paying subscribers of The Novelleist.
