This is brilliant. A "hypothetical" that acts as a succinct recap of all humanly organized religious (and broadly, moral) systems ever.

Great fun reading this. More accurate than should be comfortable.

This is really very perceptive, both on the self-delusion of so much of what passes for religion, and the limitations of AI when it comes to anything beyond what the human mind has already done. Well done, Elle.

As a veteran of 13 years of Catholic school, you had me in stitches!! Clearly, you did not factor in the wooden rulers, cruel nuns and the Latin... semper something 😉

Ha! As a Christian, this was hilarious to read. And pretty thought provoking too.. in some ways, I would also like an AI trained on God.

“I’m experiencing x, give me bible verses to help me think through y please” and so on.

Some part of me feels like it’s super blasphemous to say that 💀

Particularly enjoyed the concept of different LLMs trained on different religious source material. Someone should totally make this (if they haven’t already). Great story :)

Ha! Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It was really fun to think through for that reason. Like what would happen?

In grad school I always felt like I was sitting in a room with 5 very different Catholics haha. It was so interesting how very different our "same" beliefs were.
