For our first long read together, we’re going to spend the month of October reading Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Ministry for the Future.
Then at the beginning of November, I’m going to host a literary salon where you can ask any questions you might have for the author. Because I’ll be jumping on a video call with Kim Stanley Robinson himself to ask him your questions!!! I’ll publish the video in mid-November.
I’m so excited to read this book together and to have the opportunity to talk with you, and the author about it. The Ministry for the Future is one of the few utopian novels we have that was written in the modern era. It is also one of the few capitalist utopias, exploring themes of climate change and social democracies which we are also studying in my essays this month.
If you have already read this book or prefer to read a different one, you can also choose to read his Red Moon series, New York 2140, or 2312, which all explore similar themes!
Let’s get going! You can share your reading progress and talk about the books with other readers right here:
Thanks for reading with us!
