I’m currently writing a paper on music education ecosystems in rural spaces and this article gave me some valuable food for thought- loved the article!

Great article, but how do we get rid of google? I hate it being in our phone and in my laptop. I used to run Linux on my old laptop, and I finally bought an Apple to eject Microsoft from my life hoping for less google invasiveness. I was sorely disappointed to see google still haunting my internet experience.

I know, degoogling is such a tall task... have you tried any other search engines like duckduckgo or kagi? or Proton for all the google apps!

I use duckduckgo. I use no google apps (that I know of) and never heard of kagi.

I view big tech as an essential compound. It provides us with the: elements, compounds, soil and roots. These essential elements are what allow us to thrive and grow our new idea gardens.

I love this thinking! On the platform side, I do think there’s a lot of focus on building “systems” without as much thought to the organic evolution and interconnectivity of platforms that ultimately make up our relationship with the internet, the economy, and each other. It’s tough to be optimistic these days with the dominance of big tech so I appreciate the nature driven outlook.

Thanks Leslie 🌐 I totally agree - the focus on “building systems” assumes that systems are simple and reducible, which I think is what Tega Brain was getting at more eloquently in the article I mentioned. In reality so much is emergent
